The Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) is an Arab financial institution based in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, and its membership includes all Arab countries. It aims to lay the foundations for Arab economic integration and accelerate the process of economic development in Arab countries.
In this context, the AMF seeks to provide financing to member states to enable them to confront any challenges facing balance of payments, to strengthen the public finance sector, and to help develop the financial and banking sector in the Arab countries and enhance its safety and efficiency. The AMF contributes to providing technical assistance and capacity building in the Arab region to help member states adopt appropriate economic policies to develop their various economic sectors. The AMF also undertakes the work of the technical secretariat of the Council of Governors of Central Banks and Arab Monetary Institutions and the committees and work teams emanating from it, and the technical secretariat of the Council of Arab Finance Ministers.
The Studies and Statistics Division at the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) is responsible for spearheading the organization's research activities and managing statistical data to foster economic cooperation and enhance financial stability across the Arab region. This division prepares the annual research plan, produces key publications such as the Joint Arab Economic Report and the Arab Economic Outlook report, and conducts in-depth studies on macroeconomic and monetary policies. It manages comprehensive economic and financial market databases, oversees the ARABSTAT initiative, and publishes periodic bulletins on capital markets and inter-Arab trade. The division's work is crucial in providing data-driven policy recommendations and fostering informed economic decisions among member countries, contributing significantly to the region's economic growth and stability.
The Arab Monetary Fund would like to fill the position of “Economist” in the Economic Affairs department.
Main tasks:

Contribute to and develop the flagship reports issued by the Arab Monetary Fund (such as the Joint Arab Economic Report and the Arab Economic Outlook Report).

Conduct comprehensive, high-quality research studies on various economic issues relevant to the Arab Monetary Fund's strategic objectives using advanced econometric models and analytical techniques.

Providing in-depth and timely analysis of global and regional economic developments, policy implications, and potential risks to support the Arab Monetary Fund’s role in providing advice and technical assistance to member states.

Promote a culture of research innovation and intellectual curiosity within the division and explore innovative methodologies, methods, data sources, and methods to enhance the department’s work.

Contributing to the Fund’s training and capacity-building activity by providing training courses and workshops in areas related to the Fund’s work. This includes preparing training materials, giving lectures, evaluating participants, etc.

Active participation in implementing activities related to the various initiatives that the Fund is working on, including technical participation in the work of the committees and technical work teams emanating from the Council of Governors of Central Banks, the Arab Monetary Institutions, the Council of Arab Ministers of Finance, and the various economic activities organized by the AMF.

Professional qualifications, and required experiences:

Must be a citizen of Arab countries.

Educational background: Holds a doctorate or master’s degree in economics from an accredited university.

At least 7 years of experience in economics and finance that qualifies him to carry out key tasks, preferably in ministries of finance, central banks, regional and international institutions similar to the Arab Monetary Fund, research centers, or universities.

Technical skills:

Deep knowledge of econometrics, economic modeling, statistical data analysis, methods for preparing economic forecasts, and statistical software (STATA, EVIEWS, SPSS, etc.). Knowledge of modern software such as (R and Python) is a distinct plus.

Familiarity with formulating macroeconomic policies to achieve macroeconomic goals and their interaction mechanisms.

Ability to conduct in-depth economic analysis and develop policy recommendations to support decision-makers.

The candidate must have recent studies published in peer-reviewed scientific journals in the field of economics and finance

The ability to train in areas of specialization related to the Fund’s work.

Proficiency in Arabic and English, spoken and written, is a basic requirement, and knowledge of the French language is helpful.
