The Arab Monetary Fund aims to onboard a "Senior Economist" in the Capacity Development and Innovation Department, reporting to the Training and Capacity Building Institute Director.
Job Purpose
The Senior Economist is responsible for supporting the Training and Capacity Building Institute by conducting economic research and analysis to advise training and development programs. This role involves synthesizing economic data and trends to design educational materials, hands-on policy-oriented training programs, workshops on important issues that enhance the economic understanding and capabilities of member countries.
Key Accountability Areas and Activities
The key activities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of methodologies for assessing training needs across member countries, in line with the Institute’s strategic objectives.
- Engage with stakeholders in coordination with the director of the Institute, including member country representatives and internal departments, to gather information and insights on training requirements.
- Conduct gap analysis to identify capacity building needs and prioritize training areas based on analysis results.
- Design and develop programs that address identified training needs, ensuring content relevance and effectiveness.
- Tailor training programs to meet the specific needs of member countries and align with participants' roles and responsibilities.
- Implement quality assurance processes to maintain high standards in training content and delivery.
- Deliver/coordinate the delivery of training programs through various formats, including workshops, seminars, online courses, and blended learning.
- Ensure that training methods are interactive and engaging, promoting active learning and knowledge retention.
- Contribute to the development of evaluation mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of training programs and ensure the collection of feedback for continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the fostering and maintenance of partnerships with regional training centers, international organizations, academic institutions, and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to the coordination of capacity-building efforts with partners to enhance impact and avoid duplication.
- Promote the exchange of knowledge and best practices through collaborative initiatives and joint training programs.
- Establish and implement mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating the impact of training and capacity-building initiatives.
- Draft evaluation findings and share them with division chief to support informed decision making and continuous improvement of the effectiveness of training programs.
- Contribute to the research activities of the AMF, including studies and publications relevant to policy priorities in member countries.
- Develop training-related publications and materials to disseminate knowledge and best practices.
- Mentor and support junior economists and staff within the institute and conduct training sessions to enhance the technical skills of team members.
- Work and collaborate with relevant internal (e.g. departments/divisions) and external stakeholders (e.g. service providers) in a manner that supports the achievement of the institute’s objectives.
- Actively gain exposure and insights to local market development, business opportunities and the existing regulatory landscape and leverage it to enhance stakeholder management capabilities, in line with AMF’s strategic objectives.
Qualifications and Requirements
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in economic analysis or finance, preferably in an international financial institution, research organization, ministries of finance, or central banks.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, economics, or investment management or a related field
- Master’s degree in economics or finance or a related field.
- Excellent communication and writing skills in Arabic and English. French, as a third language, is a solid advantage
