The Arab Monetary Fund aims to onboard an "Senior Officer, Credit Risk" in the Risk Department, reporting to the Risk Director.

 

Job Purpose
The Senior Officer, Credit Risk, is responsible for assessing, monitoring, and managing credit risk exposure across the Arab Monetary Fund's (AMF) activities. This includes analysing credit risk associated with lending, investments, and counterparties while ensuring adherence to the AMF’s risk management framework. The role involves providing recommendations to mitigate credit risks, enhance portfolio quality, and support the organization’s strategic objectives.

 

Key Accountability Areas and Activities
The key activities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Analyse and assess credit risk for lending operations, investment portfolios, and counterparties.
  • Conduct due diligence on credit proposals and prepare detailed risk evaluation reports.
  • Recommend appropriate credit risk mitigation strategies and limits based on thorough analysis.
  • Monitor the creditworthiness of borrowers, issuers, and counterparties on an ongoing basis.
  • Develop and maintain credit risk monitoring tools and systems to identify potential risks proactively.
  • Prepare periodic reports on credit risk exposure, trends, and compliance with established limits for senior management and relevant committees
  • Assist in developing and updating credit risk policies, guidelines, and procedures in line with best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that the credit risk framework aligns with the AMF’s strategic goals and risk appetite.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including investments, treasury, and legal, to address credit risk concerns and implement risk management strategies.
  • Provide expert advice on credit risk matters during the development of new financial products or initiatives.
  • Utilize quantitative and qualitative models to assess credit risk and stress-test the portfolio under various scenarios.
  • Identify and quantify emerging risks and their potential impact on the AMF’s operations.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance credit risk awareness and capacity within the AMF.
  • Stay updated on global credit risk trends, best practices, and regulatory changes, and share knowledge with the team.
     

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in market risk management, preferably in a financial institution or international organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Professional certification of CFA, FRM, PRM or equivalent is preferred
  • Excellent communication and writing skills in Arabic and English. French, as a third language, is a solid advantage
